7th Annual Cannington Dog Sled Races And Winter Festival
With spring just around the corner this weekend is an ideal time for a short day trip to take in the Cannington Winter Festival and Dog Sled Races.
This fun filled weekend kicks off Saturday morning, February 26th, at 7am with a pancake breakfast at the Legion Hall and opening ceremonies at 9:45 am.
There is plenty to do with an authentic metis village set up, horse and wagon rides, pony rides, and outdoor children's games. Try snowshoeing, kick sledding, and the tubing hill. The indoor family warm up area includes an exotic petting zoo and Crayola children's activity area.
The weather looks promising for a fun filled weekend for all ages.

The Cannington Dog Sled Races sound like good, chilly fun!
Lottie - I am trying to make some time in the schedule to take in some of the wonderful activities and take some photos.
Kathy....activities like this should be fun for those families & individuals who are into outdoor-Winter-fun. In years past when our son was young & or we had the foster kids, we did some of these type things. Now, our outdoor activities revolve around rearranging the snow, feeding the birds, ducks, & neighborhood cats [last count = 2]
You have presented great localism for the area. Have fun when you participate.

Sounds like a great event. I enjoy visiting the Lake Simcoe region in summer and sailing there. I have not come by yet in winter.

John - Sailing is a great past time ..... very relaxing to get out on the water with just the sounds of the breeze and the waves lapping the sides of the boat
Brian - Uxbridge and the surrounding area has a lot to offer in the way of facilities and areas to enjoy ice fishing, snowmobiling, dog sledding, cross country and downhill skiing just to mention a few.
Perfect time of year for some big event like this, when everyone is suffering from cabin fever.
